A recent article, “Potential New Treatment Improving Chemotherapy Efficacy and Reducing Metastasis Discovered” published in Inside Precision Medicine has outlined an important discovery with regards to the effect of chemotherapy for cancer treatment and the body’s immune system.
Researchers at Tel Aviv University have identified the mechanism that generates a cancer-promoting environment and have an anti-inflammatory treatment that can reduce the incidence of metastasis.
Their findings represent a significant step forward in the treatment of cancer. However, there is another side to these findings.
The article states, “This in turn creates an inflammatory environment that supports the micro-metastases, helping them grow into full-fledged metastatic tumours. In this way, the chemotherapy, administered as a means for combating cancer, achieves the opposite result.”
As the above extract shows, chemotherapy can promote cancer metastases by creating a toxic, inflammatory environment as well as suppressing the immune system.
These findings strongly support the argument for investing more natural alternative cancer treatments such as cell immunotherapy which can be used in conjunction with more traditional treatment pathways, including chemotherapy, to bolster the immune system. A strong immune system is crucial to protecting the body against cancer cells.
